Let’s not overcomplicated things on a Monday, shall we?
Bananas + strawberries + chocolate = awesome. This I’m sure we all know.
Make the bananas and strawberries frozen. And the chocolate a dark chocolate magic shell. I think that makes it exponentially more awesome. And it’s so simple you’ll run to the kitchen to try it out, asap. Or at least I hope 🙂
Really, make yourself some banana soft serve. Any kind will do but I am loving a strawberry version right now. Pour a molten lake of chocolate over top. And then realize your bowl is way too full and take pictures as it drips off the edge.
Take a little less soft serve. Lightly drizzle some magic shell over top and wait a few seconds for it to harden.
Crack that chocolate shell(I can’t be the only one that loves that noise… Right?)
Yes, the one that was way too full was fun to clean up 🙂
You may actually want to start by making the magic shell. It will stay liquid for a while after you make it so melt it all together first and let it sit while you make your soft serve so that it’s not super hot. Banana soft serve already goes from awesome soft serve to just a frosty smoothie in about 2.7 seconds so don’t help it out by pouring hot chocolate over it. Did you know banana soft serve is almost equally as awesome after it’s been in the freezer until it hardens up. Just leave it on the counter for a couple minutes (it softens up way faster than regular ice cream) and dig in! But don’t forget the magic shell 😉 Enjoy!
Strawberry Banana Soft Serve
- 2 large bananas, peeled, frozen and cut into 1″ chunks
- 2 C frozen strawberries
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 C milk(any kind will do!), plus a little more if needed.
In a food processor add the frozen bananas and frozen strawberries. Turn on and process until no large pieces remain. Add the vanilla and the milk and process until the entire mixture comes together in a soft serve like consistency. Serve immediately, or scoop into a container and place in the freezer immediately. To serve once it’s been frozen, remove from the freezer and let the soft serve sit on the counter for 2-3 minutes and then easily scoop it into your bowl.
You may need a little more milk, but be careful not to thin it out too much. I usually use almond milk.
If your strawberries are slightly tart, consider using 1/2 banana more and reducing the strawberries slightly.
Dark Chocolate Magic Shell
- 1 oz(28g) dark chocolate
- 2 tsp coconut oil
- a few drops of vanilla(optional)
Chop chocolate well and microwave together with the coconut oil in a small bowl, stirring in 15 second intervals until completely smooth. Set aside and let it cool until ready to use.
You can also make a larger batch and store in the cupboard until ready to use and then gently warm it up and pour it over your ice cream.
Also, try using different extracts for flavored magic shell. Orange or mint would be awesome! But don’t forget that some extracts are stronger than others and might be overpowering, especially peppermint!
Adding extract will make the magic shell a little thicker so it wont drizzle as well so don’t add too much vanilla. This is fine if you use a squeeze bottle but not as nice for just drizzling with a spoon.
I use 72% but use your favorite bar chocolate for eating.
If you want to use chocolate chips, use just under 3 tbsp your favorite chocolate chips, but this magic shell will not be as nice.
