Creamy, delicious Nutella hot chocolate made a little bit healthier with a good dose of protein.
Do I have a special treat for you or what? If you’ve been following blogs, or even using Pinterest to find recipes you’ll know about Nutella hot chocolate. It was incredibly popular some time ago, and like most people I tried it out. Don’t get me wrong, it’s incredibly delicious the way it is, but I knew I could make it better. First of all, by using almond milk you can drastically reduce the calories, and to be honest I like the taste of it a little lighter too. Then on top of that I used my protein creamer, if you remember it from my almond milk steamer I posted not too long ago. This actually makes a somewhat healthy, well rounded snack that you don’t have to feel bad about.
Check out what the protein creamer does, it makes such a nice frothy topping for your drink. I just love it 🙂
I have two pieces of news to share along with this recipe today, first of all we added just one more little addition to our family. You met our puppy Katie not too long ago and now I’d like you to meet Luna. To put it in perspective how small she is, she’s sitting under a chair, but not only that, she’s sitting under the support between the legs of the chair. I cropped out the actual chair because I was a little embarrassed about how dirty it was, but I wanted to show how small she was. We’ve had her a little while now, and she’s grown so much! I’ll have to share some more recent photos of Katie and Luna 🙂

Now onto the recipe!
- 1 C unsweetened almond milk, divided
- 1 scoop of your favorite unflavored protein powder(optional)
- 1½ tbsp Nutella
- In a small cup add the scoop of protein powder if using with enough almond milk to dissolve it. Set aside. If not adding protein to your drink, start with the next step.
- Warm the remaining almond milk till steaming hot, then add the Nutella and mix well. Reheat as desired.
- Add the protein creamer if desired and stir in. Enjoy immediately.
Be sure to use a protein powder that you enjoy the flavor of on it's own.
