Hi there, I really enjoy your site. When I make the chia seed pudding even though I soak it overnight it does expland and become gelatinous but still is cunchy. Is it supposed to be that way? Any suggestions?

The seeds actually do still have a bit of a bite to them even after soaking for a long time. I don’t think they ever get really soft. I found the texture to be strange at first and now I really enjoy it 🙂

I just noticed that we have the same wordpress theme and was wondering if you could please tell me how you put your wonderful recipes in that awesome neat “box” with the print option within your blogpost and how you put all those logos below your blog footer! I have been cracking my head for the last 4 months since I started my blog and still have not figure it out yet 🙁 🙁

Hi! Sorry it took so long to get back to you. If you’re blogging with wordpress.com I don’t think it’s possible to get the little print box. If your blogging with Wordpress on your own server then you can download a plugin called “Wordpress Print This Section” to do that. Also, if you want to put things at the bottom of your page, click on widgets and near the bottom of the list on the right side you should see a few “Footer Widget Areas”. Putting things in that section will show up at the bottom of your site 🙂 I hope that helps!

Hi Heidi-

I just found your blog from a friend on FB and I love it! I have not had a chance to look at it all yet but am so excited to learn more and find recipes I know are healthy! I also wanted to share with you a site you may like, http://info.breadbeckers.com/. I grind my own grains and make bread, muffins, cookies, soups ect with the info I learned from this store. ( I live in GA about 10 min from the store but if you look at their co-op info they ship out to other locations) My family loves the bread- I use a hard red and hard white wheat to make it and have never tried it without gluten but the recipe states it is an optional addition. I use kamut and spelt for the muffins and a soft white wheat to make the cookies.
I look forward to seeing more posts and looking back on all ones already here! Thank you!

Thanks so much for your comment and for dropping by! I’m so excited to hear about all the baking you do with freshly ground flours! I love grinding my own grains and using them in baking, although it’s taken me a lot of experimenting to get the end result I want. It’s so worth it though! Thanks for the link! I’m enjoying looking through their recipes and can’t wait to try some 😀

Hi there!

I was just looking at your Chai Coconut recipe. While i’m not a fan of coconut I absolutely LOVE chai. However, I just wanted to let you know that Chai actually has more caffeine than espresso. I’m a Barista. I was surprised at first when I first found out, we are supposed to warn pregnant woman of the fact before they order one. But i’ll definitely have to try out this recipe especially with Summer coming 😉

Wow, thanks for the warning. That’s really surprising since it’s black tea, which is usually better than coffee. Thank goodness I’ve been buying a decaf variety since getting pregnant. Maybe I wont go back to the regular chai!

Hey, I’m Tana & thank you for your love of my soup! It developed even more after my trip to India but before that I made it without lentils and it was incredibly delicious as well! I noticed a gal saying her husband didn’t like lentils & you can easily leave them out. The soup is also very good cold with a drizzle of yogurt & fresh chopped cilantro, cumin & a squeeze of lime. A few pita chips 🙂 Perfect for summer! Thanks again, Tana

Hi again, I really enjoy your blog and will continue to follow for sure. My good friend Shelley Adams is the one that sent me your review of my soup and her cookbook. We worked together for years doing movie catering in Vancouver & also grew up together. I love all 3 of her cookbooks, they all have amazing photos and so many incredibly delicious recipes. In the book you have 3rd (purple one) my Mum’s (Barbie’s) shortbread recipe is in it & it’s really great too! Thanks again for the wonderful review!

Hello! Just tried the banana bread recipe with spelt! We love it. Had to make a few modifications because I live at 8,000 feet altitude but it’s a keeper recipe! I was wondering if you have any recipes for regular spelt bread (to be used for toast, sandwiches, etc.) that I can pilfer and modify for our altitude and my bread machine. I’ve tried, and wasted, about 10 loaves so far and am now seeking any help I can get. Thanks!

I’m so glad you like it! I’m sorry, I don’t have any other spelt bread recipes. I’ve been meaning to try to make a spelt sandwich bread though, so in the future maybe I can help. I know nothing about high altitude baking though, great job getting other recipes to work!

You could even use ground up nuts or even seeds(whole seeds like sesame seeds, poppy seeds and chia seeds are good). You could use more oats too(or even grind up some rolled oats so they aren’t quite as chewy), although I wouldn’t recommend using all oats – I’d mix it up with some other stuff too.
