Hello there! My name is Erin. Perhaps you know me from my other blog, Texanerin Baking? Baking is on my mind – all the time. So I bake a lot. I used to bake oodles of really unhealthy goodies but then I realized that I couldn’t continue baking once or twice a week and remain healthy at the same time.

You know how a lot of healthy recipes taste obviously healthy? Just kind of… bla? I don’t like that. At all! My aim is to create simple, healthier recipes that – most importantly – taste just as yummy as the original not-so-healthy versions! No cardboard-y or grain-y taste here.

Wondering what happened to Heidi? Read the beginning of this Healthy Chocolate Cake post!

This is a great blog! You are an inspiration. I can’t believe you have me wanting to cook!

9 Catherine November 8, 2012 at

You’re great! Your recipes and overall outlook on food/health are really inspiring. Vegetarian for 3 years from 13 to 16, vegan for 6 months and, now 23, I just recently fell out of eating so healthy with my boyfriend and I moving into our new house (lots of junk and convenience food 🙁 ). So THANK YOU and kudos to you- knowing you have three kids and a husband to take care of certainly puts my habits in perspective!!

I love your recipes, and more so the fact that so many of your recipes are animal-friendly since modern farming is so unkind.

No, sorry. If you want to use the badge on your site, you’ll need to right click the image and save it and then upload it on your site to use.

Take care…

Hi Heidi,
I know all the previous comments have said it, but I just wanted to repeat that the blog is great! I have JUST discovered it, and bookmarked it!

I recently read a book called Eating Animals, by Jonathan Safran Foer, and I think it would be of interest to you. It is a very informative book about what the animals that we consider “food” in our country, and he is an excellent writer. It can be a bit harsh and graphic at times, but I think it is a book we should all read and understand as we make our food choices. I hope you get a chance to read it. It sounds like you’re already ahead of the game, but nevertheless it is an eye-opening book. I consider myself pretty informed, and it definitely completely shifted my view of, well, eating animals.

Thank you for your contribution to the world! All the best to you and to your sweet fam!

Hi Heidi,

Just wanted to tell you that you have a beautiful blog. I stumbled across your blog after Nami from Justonecookbook.com passed the baton to me for the 7 links challenge 🙁 🙁

I’m not sure if I’m going to do it though coz there are so many great blogs around and my blog is only 4 months old. Hope to read more of you.

Keep up the great stuff and happy blogging! 🙂 🙂

29 Heidi @ Food Doodles August 16, 2011 at

Aw, thank you so much! I think you should do the 7 links challenge anyways! I’ve only had my blog a couple more months than you. It was hard to pick links, but it was fun 🙂

Happy blogging to you too!

30 Amy-Nutrition by Nature August 2, 2011 at

Hi Heidi,
Your blog is very nice, I am looking forward reading more of it! 🙂

31 Katrena July 28, 2011 at

Your blog has so many good recipes, I can’t wait to try some of them. Do you grow most of your vegetables? Or do you buy them from the grocery/farmers market?

32 Heidi @ Food Doodles July 28, 2011 at

Aw thank you! I do have a large garden but a lot of my fruits and veggies still come from the grocery store and the farmers market, although I always prefer the market.

33 Sarah B. @ Lemon Fire Brigade July 26, 2011 at

Hi Heidi! Thank you for your kind words over at my site. You are so very sweet! I was just looking at some of your posts. Awesome stuff, I love the polenta lasagna!! Amazing! I might have to make that recipe for my fiance. Anyways, just wanted to say hi and mention something we have in common I’m 23 too. Youngins’ here 🙂 Hope you are having a wonderful summer Heidi! xx. Sarah B.

34 Aggie July 21, 2011 at

Hi there! I have seen 2 comments on other blogs from you today and decided to come over (from Alkaline Sisters!)

Your way of eating is very similar to mine…mostly plant based but I don’t call myself a vegetarian b/c I eat fish. I don’t want to even call myself a pescatarian b/c I reserve the right to take a bite of my hubby’s burger or my grandpa’s meatballs!

Looking forward to checking out your blog and being inspired! :0)

35 Heidi @ Food Doodles July 22, 2011 at

I’m so glad you stopped in!
I don’t like to label how I eat either because, for me at least, there are always exceptions. I could say a lot of things about how I eat, but I’m much rather just show it 🙂
Thank you for visiting me. I’m enjoying looking through your blog too and I’m excited to see more!

36 Tanvi@SinfullySpicy July 9, 2011 at

38 Meredith April 27, 2011 at

cool blog. At your age I was still eating college fair and adding a senior 15 to my previous freshman 15. I finally got it together, however. It’s nice to see young people already aware of what good food is. keep it up.

39 Heidi @ Food Doodles April 28, 2011 at

It’s definitely something I learned the hard way too, and it’s a constant process. You can never stop learning 🙂 Thank you for stopping by!

Just found your blog through a comment on HTP. I seen you say your from Canada?!

So young to have 2 young boys! I imagine they keep you busy 🙂

And bread? YES please!

45 Heidi @ Food Doodles April 11, 2011 at

Welcome! Thanks for stopping by. Yes, I am from Canada. BC actually 😀

I actually have a boy and a girl. They keep me busy enough, I can only imagine 2 boys would be even crazier! My husband and I are pretty young but we love it 😀

46 The Teenage Taste April 5, 2011 at

I just found your blog today and it sounds lovely! I love your food philosophy and love making foods from scratch. I’m looking forward to reading more! 😀

47 Heidi @ Food Doodles April 5, 2011 at

Awesome! Welcome 😀

48 Monica March 30, 2011 at

How have I never visited your blog before? Your photography is simply stunning. I love your philosophy (and your taco seasoning). We have similar tastes in books, too. Have you read Animal Vegetable Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver? It’s a must read. Not your usual polemic. Just inspiring words about food and sustainability.

49 Heidi @ Food Doodles March 30, 2011 at

I’m still just a baby in the blog world 😀 Thank you so much for the compliments!
No I haven’t read that book, but I’ve heard good things about it. I’ve been looking for it at my local library. They have it but it’s always out when I go. I can’t wait to get my hands on it!
Thank you for stopping by!

50 chocorrol March 23, 2011 at
