I am in love. After my Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cheesecake Popsicles I was afraid those would be the best popsicles I would ever make. Honestly, I’m not even making that up. And then I made these. Not saying one is better than the other, it’s like comparing apples and oranges. Come on, how can you compare chocolate to cheesecake? Or cheesecake to chocolate. You just can’t, in my mind. But I will say that I’m completely in love with both kinds now.
These are so perfect. They’re incredibly fudgy, obviously. But they’re also creamy without any cream or and dairy at all. Did I mention I’m so in love with them? And you’ll never guess what the healthy secret ingredient is. Unless of course you look at my pictures 😀
That’s right, these have avocados in them! I know people always say avocados are full of fat, but do you really know how good they are for you? First off, they’re a good source of omega 3’s. Enough said there. They’re also high in fiber and they contain a ton of essential vitamins and minerals. I am SO happy I have a new way to get more avocados into my kids and myself in the form of these fudgsicles!
Now I know what you’re thinking. And yes, for the first bite, maybe even the first two bites you can taste a slight avocado flavor if you have particularly flavorful avocados. Sometimes you wont be able to taste the avocado, but I could with these. The idea kind of grosses me out, but let me tell you, they are so delicious. And somehow… I don’t know how… After a couple bites you just don’t taste avocado anymore. Just delicious chocolatey fudgsicle 🙂 I hope you’ll give these a try even if you’re wary of the avocado.
Don’t they look amazing?
I recommend letting these sit at room temperature for 5 minutes before enjoying them just because as they start to melt just a little they become even more irresistible. I only know this because the one I enjoyed after taking these pictures was so amazing. Since then I have not been able to let it just sit for 5 minutes though. Oh well 🙂
And, just in case you thought I was crazy to put avocados in my fudgsicles, just a couple days after I made these I came across this post by Sharon of The Honour System where she made some very similar fudgesicles with avocado as well!
And in my googling I came across a few other recipes from other bloggers using the same idea. One idea I really want to try out is sweetening these partially with dates(doesn’t that sound awesome?).
I really hope you’ll give these a try! You won’t regret it. And if you need even more healthy frozen treat ideas, check out these healthy homemade popsicles!

I had to come back to say that the pictures were really pretty! Your popsicles look SO perfect. Mine came out funky looking and I got one picture total. Haha. Oh well.
I’m going to link to these as a vegan / dairy-free alternative! 🙂

I’m about to photograph my chocolate popsicles and checked out Foodgawker to see
how other people did it.
Two things.
1. I could tell that this picture was from you without even seeing the name. I think that’s neat.
2. I thought I was being so original with my avocado popsicles. 🙁 Mine has Greek yogurt and all the measurement proportions are different but still. You beat me to it!

And to think I passed up that Popsicle mold yesterday- I need to go back and buy it so I can make both versions – a vegan version of the cheesecake and this one, so amazing Hedi!

Have I mentioned before that I’ve never had avocado? I can’t imagine myself eating them straight, but I think I could handle them in chocolate popsicles! 🙂

I love avocados so I don’t think I would mind even if I could taste them! These sound so delicious.

Thanks for the shout out, Heidi! Your fudgesicles look awesome. I love the idea of adding in the coffee for a mocha-type flavour:)

i tried a similar recipe recently, & i’m in love! i found that if i added a bit more cocoa powder & sweetener, tasting as i went, i completely removed the avocado flavor. kudos to delicious, nutritious sweet goodness! 😉
