A green smoothie packed full of good-for-you ingredients! Banana, strawberries, spinach, Greek yogurt and hemp seeds! Healthy has never tasted so good!
Today I wanted to share an old favorite with you. A looooong time ago I posted our favorite green smoothie. But the pictures didn’t do it justice so one day when I made our favorite green smoothie I played around with it and got some fun pictures to share with you. In the process I made the recipe even better, so that’s why I’m sharing it with you 🙂
Now, if you don’t drink green smoothies, I highly recommend you try one at least once in your life. They’re delicious and such an awesome way to get amazingly healthy leafy greens into your diet without having to chew them up. Which means they are so so SO awesome for kids 🙂 That being said, not any smoothie can be made into a green smoothie. Most berry smoothies with added greens turn out brown, but with some tinkering(or maybe just more careful blending next time, unfortunately blueberries and spinach never combine to make something beautifully green even though it still tastes good) you can have beautifully colored smoothies too. Sometimes a dollop of yogurt is all you need to brighten things up which is what I did with this one and along with the hemp seeds this makes a protein filled smoothie 🙂
Now it does make a very large smoothie if you’re the only one enjoying it. I recommend splitting it with a little one(mostly so you can have a little more than half) but when that isn’t possible you can always make a smaller one for just yourself. Even half this smoothie recipe boasts an awesome 20 grams of protein and a 1/4 of your daily intake of iron at just over 300 calories, so don’t think a half a smoothie is going to do nothing for you. Half this recipe, plus a couple of hard boiled eggs is a perfect quick, on the go breakfast in my opinion. Give it a try, play with the recipe and make it your own 🙂 Enjoy!

- 1 large banana fresh or frozen
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen pineapple
- 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
- 3 tablespoons hemp seeds
- 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1-2 large handfuls of fresh baby spinach
- almond milk to blend approximately 1 1/2 cups
-
Add all ingredients to the blender and blend until completely smooth. Check for sweetness and add a little honey, or your favorite sweetener, if needed. Enjoy!
I only like to use about half frozen fruit so if you only have frozen strawberries, consider using a fresh banana for easier blending. If all you have is frozen fruit, consider adding more almond milk 🙂

I have never had a green smoothie. It does look tasty though. I love strawberry, banana, and pineapple together.
