Just a quick smoothie recipe from me today. Seeing Averie’s smoothie a couple weeks ago I knew I had to make something similar. I like to keep a lot of fruit in my freezer. When cases of mangos are the cheapest I buy lots for cutting up and freezing so that we have them frozen for smoothies. I find this is cheaper than buying bags of frozen mangos so it’s worth giving a try if you have freezer space and time.
For some reason I always feel rushed on Fridays. Like I have to get the house(and my blog) in order for the weekend. I like to clean out the fridge on Fridays to take note of what I have so that I know what to get at the grocery store, and to set aside food that needs to be eaten before other food gets made. You may not think it, but that is a huge deal for us. On weeks that I don’t do that, it’s noticeable how unorganized things get. I also find it saves money knowing exactly what we have so that I don’t buy more of something we don’t need. I usually write a shopping list as well, but I only write the few major things that I think I’ll forget. I should really work on getting better at that. What other important little tips do you have for saving money on food from week to week?

Makes one very large smoothie or two small smoothies
- 1 large ripe banana
- 1 C mango chunks
- 1/2 C fresh pineapple chunks
- 1/2 scoop your favorite protein powder(optional)
- 1/2 C almond milk, to blend(or your favorite alternative – light coconut milk would be amazing)
- 2 tsp vanilla
- Ice as needed, about a large handful if not using frozen fruit
I like to use either a frozen banana, or frozen mango chunks. I’m not a huge fan of protein powders but after a workout I like to add a least a little to my smoothie, that’s optional though. You can up the amount to a full scoop of your favorite vanilla protein powder if you’d like. Throw everything in the blender, if adding ice leave that until everything is combined. Blend until smooth, add ice if not using frozen fruit, blend till there are no big chunks and serve.

Smoothies are the most wonderfully delicious things and this one is no exception. Mangos are out of season in Australia. We are known for our superb quality mangos and smoothies are a great way to showcase and enjoy them.
I’m glad I inspired you.
